The 5.56 NATO cartridge has proven itself with decades of service on the battlefield, but it is far from ideal for a number of defensive applications. Many shooters value the enhanced short range performance of the .300 AAC Blackout cartridge over the traditional 5.56 NATO when determining the configuration of their defensive carbine.
The .300 Blackout offers compatibility with standard AR-15 magazines, upper receivers, bolt carrier groups, and a number of other commonly found components. Instant interchangeability between subsonic and supersonic ammunition has also helped the .300 Blackout gain popularity in the suppressed shooting community.
Criterion has partnered with Midwest Industries to bring you our newest .300 AAC Blackout barrel model. This stainless steel barrel features a 1-8 twist and a M4 barrel extension. 5/8-24 muzzle threads allow for compatibility with a number of muzzle devices and sound suppressors. Chambers are finished, but barrels should be headspaced and installed by a qualified gunsmith.
