Description
Introduced in 1999, our Hybrid contour is a mid-weight government contour. This was our first entry aiming to improve the performance over traditional government contours. The additional weight around the chamber increases heat absorption and rigidity over conventional designs. Because of its mid-weight design, our Hybrid contour is able to handle high heat while maintaining exceptional performance – even during extreme use and high rates of fire. The proven Hybrid design produces consistent harmonics and improves precision while remaining balanced for use in the field.
ADDITIONAL ACCESSORIES
Include a bolt, bolt carrier group, gas block, and gas tube that pair well with our barrels. Our headspace service guarantees optimal bolt to barrel fitment using premeasured bolts and certified headspace gauges. This helps to maximize the performance and function of your build. HEADSPACE
Headspace (the bolt to barrel fitment), must be checked for optimal performance and reliability. Proper headspace produces consistent chamber pressures and seating depths which results in increased accuracy and reliability, while reducing wear and tear on internal parts and components.

Year 3 and still just as accurate as when I bought it and I have not swabbed the barrel since I did the break-in

Year 3…. I bought the 20″ from this sight and also a hybrid contour 16″ w\ rifle gas from another website. Both purchased at (basically) the exact same time. I had problems with accuracy on my first AR purchase so the 2nd time around I figured if I wanted something done right then I need to do it myself. So I did and also after the initial break in, I wanted to run an experiment to see at what round count would I lose accuracy, that was in late 2019 and I have not cleaned either of the barrels yet at all and after 3,000+ rounds and almost 3 years it is still wayyy more accurate than me. Shooting from a bipod I can get 5 rounds in an area the size of a quarter at 300yds and it leaves just one ragged hole so I can attest to the durability (did I mention I live in probably the most inhospitable environment known for a barrels life? The South Florida coast!) And long term accuracy, not to mention it’s ability to shoot even steel cased crappy ammo VERY accurately. I will NEVER buy any other company’s barrel if I can help it. Thanks Criterion! You help me look like a better shot than I actually am!!

Most accurate barrel I’ve ever had or even seen. More accurate than I personally am capable of. Buy with the knowledge that if you do your part so will this barrel and send multiple rounds through one hole. I have 3 Criterion barrels all different but all the same accuracy…. Mind bogglingly accurate even with surplus ammo!
